The Isabella Gardener Museum didn’t allow photographs, but I did get to see the original John Singer Sargeant’s painting El Jaleo from 1882– incredible!! I am in love with the happy woman in orange on the right- and this is a beautiful place with incredible artwork. Then, on to the Museum of Fine Art for more Sargeant (they love this guy here) and other assorted masterpieces. I was most moved by a carved marble sarcophagus a man made of his wife- detailed and heartbreakingly beautiful. So much so I couldn’t bring myself to photograph it.
