The Degenerate Art Ensemble exhibition at the Frye Art Museum included photographs, fiber sculpture and videos of performance often containing warrior princess characters. I was especially taken by the dancer Haruko Nishimura wearing prothesis of carved deer forelegs, and the halted and awkward movements she made seemed to emulate a newborn fawn. I sat and made quick sketches in front of the video until they announced closing time.
