Powell’s Bookstore is a four-story high, two-block long dream come true. Books, books and more books. I stay where I stay in Portland because it’s right around the corner. Carve me out a corner in the Literature section, allow me a few sponge baths in the restroom sink, throw a few coffeeshop pastries my way and I could live here for months. Yesterday I wandered around poetry for awhile, visiting with Pablo Neruda, Antonio Machado and my favorite Mary Oliver. Moved to Literature and read through a bit of George Sand‘s biography, We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver, and Delta of Venus by Anais Nin. Then, it was closing time, and I finished the night off with some Zombie Haiku: ‘Biting into heads, is much harder than it looks. The skull is feisty.’
